The 9/8 time signature is most commonly referred to as a ‘slip jig’ and is one of the time signatures of the Jig musical style.
The slip jig is generally thought of as being ‘a jig with an extra bit at the end’. There are technical ways to describe the 9/8 however listen to the Dubliners singing in 9/8 and you’ll understand what I mean…
