David Hopes was born and grew up in Kilmarnock. He was the first person in his family to go to university, sharing a flat in Glasgow with schoolfriends John C Grant and Gerard McNamara.
David has spent much of his career in museums mostly in Scotland, but also in Stratford upon Avon and Leeds. He nows lives in Manchester.
