David was born and raised in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. His boyhood hero was Robert
Burns and he went on to become curator and then director of Robert Burns Birthplace
Museum, after studying with the universities of Glasgow, Leicester and Birmingham,
and the Open University.
David has travelled widely and lived for periods in England, Wales, and Ireland. He plays piano accordion.
