Lauren McKenzie’s journey began in Irvine and unfolded amidst the picturesque landscapes of Cumnock, East Ayrshire. Nurtured by the rich heritage of Ayrshire, she developed an unwavering passion for the Scots Language and the enduring works of Robert Burns. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Edinburgh in 2014, where she embarked on a rigorous study of Events Management.

Returning to her roots in 2019, Lauren’s path led her to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, where she assumed the pivotal role of Functions and Events Manager. A highlight in her career was orchestrating the annual Burns Supper at the historic Burns Cottage every 25th of January; a task she executed with meticulous planning and dedication.

Beyond this, Lauren’s commitment extended to the esteemed Bachelors’ Club in Tarbolton. Her involvement encompassed the curation of open mic performance evenings, thought-provoking debate sessions, and the organisation of yet another prestigious Burns Supper—a testament to her expertise and dedication.

The year 2023 marked a milestone etched in Lauren’s legacy. With pride and distinction, she became the first woman under 30 to offer a toast at the revered Burns Supper in the Bachelors Club, Tarbolton. This cherished memory is destined to endure, a testament to her profound impact on the world of Scots Language, Burns, and the art of event management.

Her favourite Robert Burns song is ‘My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose’.
